Location

To be announced

Description

MMOPA will hold its first-ever Safety Stand Down at 7 locations in the United States.

The event is FREE to MMOPA members, their pilot guests and those interested in the PA46. Each event will be led by an MMOPA-endorsed CFI who will provide high-quality ground instruction on critical safety information related to operating the PA46.

Key Topics:

* Spatial Disorientation: Spatial Disorientation is an insidious problem for all of General Aviation, including the PA46 market. Pilots must understand the implications of not understanding the vestibular, proprioceptive, and visual systems of the human body and how those systems can provide incorrect inputs to the brain. In the last 12 months, Spatial Disorientation is the known or suspect cause of several PA46 fatal accidents. The Safety Committee believes that Spatial Disorientation is an important subject, one which all pilots should understand.

* Airframe icing: As we move into the winter season of flying, airframe icing will become more and more prevalent. Airframe icing is the known or suspect cause of several fatal accidents in the last 12 months, and all of these accidents are avoidable with increased pilot awareness of the negative aerodynamic impacts icing, the need to properly configure the aircraft for an icing encounter, and how the most insidious type of icing (freezing precipitation) can be avoided altogether.

The event will be held 10:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. LOCAL TIME
